Our Story
Early on, both Mary and Mike individually discovered their passion for architecture, finding it a wonderful combination of art and science. Both shared a love for drawing, building things by hand, and traveling with their families to inspirational locations. Mike and Mary met at a very large architectural firm that focused on the design of larger structures that served research, hospitality, and educational uses. While this was valuable experience gained, they found the large firm size lacked the satisfaction of working directly with clients and experiencing the lasting, positive improvements to the quality of their daily lives.
Sensing a change was needed, but committed to the idea of working together in their own practice one day, Mike left for graduate school at Yale, while Mary joined a smaller firm and began her track for licensure. Upon completion of Mike’s Master of Architecture II degree, they each worked in smaller firms and became licensed architects. In 2001, Mike left his full-time position and started the firm, and soon hired the firm’s first employee. Soon thereafter, Mary joined and the nucleus was created. They methodically grew their office, adding incredibly talented individuals, as well as creating a sister Interior Design firm several years into their architectural practice.
After two decades of perseverance and earned success, Mary and Mike continue to lead and work alongside their amazingly talented and committed team of architects and designers. They sought to foster an environment where cutting-edge technology and a vibrant office culture thrived, and where collaboration was the cornerstone of all projects. A place where design excellence was non-negotiable, but also, partnered with an understanding, respect and commitment to address real world constraints such as timelines and budgets. The firm continues to deliver spectacular custom residential projects, but has also diversified over the years, seeking and receiving opportunities to design commercial, medical and civic projects, as well as exceptional projects for individuals with Special Needs.
Currently comprised of a dedicated team of a dozen passionate architects, designers, and administrative staff, the firm is united by their collective commitment to collaborative design, and delivering inspired solutions that enhance their clients' experiences in the built environment. Looking into the future, the firm looks to reward and promote the most committed and talented of the team members with partnership, such that they can expand upon, uphold and enhance the founding partners early vision of creating an architectural practice where great people help great clients enhance their lives through great design.
